C cable glands
On the occasion of the Hanover Industrial Fair 2009, HUMMEL AG presents a whole series of novel products and extensions to its product range. The family firm from South Baden has been producing high quality cable glands for over 60 years. For offshore applications and in the power generation field we receive ever more requests for quotation for large and ultra-large brass threaded couplings. HUMMEL has already been providing solutions for these applications for years. For instance, cable glands with four-inch pipe thread have been available as a catalogue item for quite some time. Due to the continuing demand, from now on various metric thread sizes larger than M63 are included in the 2009 catalogue as standard items. For the extended M 63 version with a clamping range of 48-55 mm as well as in the other sizes M 75, M 80, M 90, M 100 up to M 110, at HUMMEL we provide different sealing materials depending on application. For use in oily environments, NBR has proven to be outstandingly suitable. For exterior use - even in saline environments – HSK-XL threaded couplings can be supplied with EPDM. In addition to all this, silicone for high or low temperatures as well as FPM for applications in aggressive chemical media are available on request. Naturally, if need be, most other cable glands from the HUMMEL range can be fitted with different sealing materials.
Worldwide, HUMMEL provides the largest assortment of cable glands, all produced in its own facilities. Particularly worthy of mention is the large range of cable glands for explosion protected applications – in particular of the "increased safety" type - which we have been producing for years. With immediate effect an even larger range of these cable glands is available. The A2 and C models in brass, aluminium or stainless steel are available for delivery for the "increased safety" area with metric or NPT threads. The A2 model is suitable for conventional cables and the C model is approved for armoured cables. In contrast to conventional cables, these cables have a woven wire cover or similar in order to provide an increased mechanical protection beyond that of classical cable sheathing. In order to guarantee electrical safety, the metal protection must be securely earthed. For this purpose HUMMEL can provide on request any necessary accessories. In the field of pressure-resistant casings, HUMMEL equally can offer alternatives for armoured and non-armoured cables. The A2F and E1F models are available in similar designs to the A2 und C cable glands and just like these are ATEX approved, as well as for the Brazilian market.
