Manufacturing medical devices combines HUMMEL's know-how in many fields. Development phases are shortened by the close cooperation between our departments. By means of its EN ISO 13485 certified process management, HUMMEL can assist its customers to implement Directive 93/42/EC on Medical Devices.

With the OphthaTOP product developed specially for one customer, HUMMEL AG introduced the new generation of devices in the field of ophthalmology. By means of optical measurement without contact with the surface of the eye, using software, the topography (similar to a 3-D land map) of the eye can be generated and so the shape and nature of the cornea can be analysed. Applications can be found for instance in adjusting contact lenses or in assisting and monitoring corrections to defective vision.
