25 years of successful partnership

It all began 25 years ago. The Dutch branch of Rittal, the market leader in enclosure construction, was looking for a partner in cable management. The choice fell on HUMMEL AG, one of the leading manufacturers of cable glands.

"The development and manufacture of cable glands is highly specialised. That's why only an experienced partner who places a lot of value on quality and customer orientation came into question for us," says Edgar Hoogakker, Product Manager at Rittal B.V., about the background to the decision. At the time, Rittal was developing into the market leader in enclosure construction and HUMMEL was focusing on growth and internationalisation. "It was simply the right fit, and it still is today," sums up Bernd Lais, Industry Application Manager at HUMMEL AG, adding, "For us, Rittal is more than just an exclusive distributor in the Netherlands. And if there are rare applications and exceptional cases? "Then we have a direct line to the cable gland specialists at HUMMEL," reports Edgar Hoogakker.

For Rittal, the cable gland is a small but extremely important component in enclosure construction. "If the required protection class of an enclosure is compromised by the use of cable glands of inadequate quality, the consequences can be catastrophic," explains Edgar Hoogakker. More and more customers are taking advantage of the experience of Rittal and HUMMEL. They have their enclosures mechanically prefabricated and supplied directly with HUMMEL glands. This makes final assembly more efficient, and safety is guaranteed thanks to the coordinated, high-quality components. "The true quality of cable glands is determined by the high quality of the material used and by the design," explains Bernd Lais from HUMMEL AG.
